Estuve leyendo mucho al respecto y vuelvo con este tema porque no pude solucionarlo.
Tengo SUSE LINUX 10.1 instalado, hace unos dias me instalaron SPEEDY y la gente de telefonica me puso un modem usb marca SPEEDTOUCH 330 (modem cuadradito, negrito, hermoso).
Hice TODO lo que marcan los libros:
0º) me loguee como root y a continuacion hice toooodas estas cosas:
1º) baje el speedtouchconf_version_.tar.gz lo descomprimi en un directorio.
2º) baje el firmware rev4fw.zip y lo copie dentro del directorio donde descomprimi el primero.
3º) despues ejecute el speedtouch.sh le puse el VPI 8 y el VCI 35 (por telefonica) puse mi usuario y mi contraseña
4º) me tiro el siguiente error:

the modem_run command failed (code 235)
modem_run results:
mutex value not ok
FAILED because of modem_run error 235

5º) con estos resultados fui por otros firmwares del mismo modem. Encontre otros dos, que segun en sendos foros decian que funcionaban cuando este primero no andaba: el speedtouch330_firmware_3012.zip y el kqd6_r204.zip. Renombrandolos como rev4fw.zip ya que solos con su nombre no me los tomaba, me dieron diferentes errores. Uno de ellos el error 230 y el otro si no me equivoco el 250.
Alguien puede ayudarme y decirme que catzo puedo hacer al respecto ?

Interesante,..

1) Hay que averiguar cual es el modelo. Ya que mencionas: ... cuadradito, negrito.. parece uno nuevo.

2) Te está instalando el modem_run y, al SuSE 10.1 ya no le corresponde; por lo que deduzco el script no está identificando correctamente el kernel de la distro en cuestión.

Por lo tanto: recomiendo te remitas directamente al método kernel driver http://www.linux-usb.org/SpeedTouch/suse/index-es.html

Con
grep -B 1 "THOMSON ALCATEL" /proc/bus/usb/devices

puedes averiguar el modelo y firmware que le corresponde, al final de la primera línea debería decir Rev= X.00

X es la versión del modem que tú tienes.

Espero veas ahi un 4, si es así usas el ZZZL_3.012,
si llegara a salir un número mas alto coméntalo (sería toda un novedad) y deberemos buscarlo.
Por el contrario (poco probable) sea 0 o 2, usas KQD6_3.012

Para el resto de la guía basta tengas en cuenta que en Argentina las Telefónicas usan PPPoE.

HICE TODO LO SUGERIDO, PROBE CON EL GREP (...) Y DIRECTAMENTE ME DIJO QUE NO EXISTE EL DIRECTORIO. DESPUES COLOCANDO EL FIRMWARE PARA EL ULTIMO MODEM 4 DE SPEEDTOUCH ME ARROJA EL SIGUIENTE ERROR !!!

proba con estas dos configs... son las q me anduvieron... primero proba con la del 06-03

Problema Firmware:
¿ Seguro que no existe el directorio /proc/bus/usb/devices ?
y si tipeas:
ls -lt /proc/bus/usb/devices
¿que te sale?

La otra es usar el mismo microcódigo (que te funcinona en win) tal como dice en el howto.

Problema ScriptConfig:
Si te vuelve a querer instalar el modem_run con el script recomendado por nekro, pasate al método del Kernel driver que se anda muy bien con SUSE 9.3 y 10 (ya no usan el modem_rum porque son hotplug!).

Puede que como el script funciona para muchas distro y kernel 2.2*, 2.4*, 2.6* (identificando y configurando en consecuencia) todavía no los hallan adaptado para el último SuSE.

Aunque uds no lo crean... este post lo estoy escribiendo desde el SUSE LINUX 10.1 !!! Quiero agradecer ETERNAMENTE a P_TER y NEKRO que tanta paciencia me tuvieron... y que tanto me ayudaron para poder lograr esto que ahora no puedo creer !!!!.
Para los que lean este post (es un post?), sepan que lo pude configurar a nivel kernel como sostenia el ya querido p_ter. Segui los pasos al pie de la letra que aparecian en el link de speedtouch-suse y hete aqui disfrutando de adsl... en LINUX... ahora si tiro a la merda el WINDOUS...

SEPAN QUE LOS VOY A SEGUIR JODIENDO... tengo muchas cositas para ajustar en este SUSE para que todo quede PIPI CUCU...
